“JOHN D. UTTERBACK” SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
|
The All Star Association, Inc. has established an annual $15,000 scholarship fund to be awarded to member employees and/or their dependents.
There will be awards of up to 5 scholarships to eligible students (freshmen through senior) enrolled in college or university programs.
Candidates are expected to complete an application form, submit a high school (if freshman) / college transcript of all courses, and write a short statement describing their career aspirations, business related activities and work experiences. The external academia Scholarship Committee then evaluates the application information. The recommendations of the Scholarship Committee are submitted to the All Star Association, Inc . Board of Directors for final evaluation. The scholarships are then awarded to the 1-5 applicants that have been selected. A total of $15,000 will be evenly distributed among the winners.
Scholarship recipients will be selected on the basis of the following criteria:
1. Academic performance
2. Courses related to the members business
3. Apparent commitment to a career in dairy/beverage/food industry/ or members field.
4. Involvement in extra-curricular activities
5. Evidence of leadership ability, initiative, character and integrity
Students may be awarded scholarships in multiple years. Scholarship winners must be enrolled during the entire academic year for which the scholarship is awarded.
APPLICATION PROCESS:
The application process begins on April 1st of each year. All applications and related information must be received by June 1st. Announcement of winners will be made to the student and the university department chairperson on or about August 15th. The scholarship check / stipend will be forwarded to the department head / chairperson for issuance to awardees upon their enrollment for the fall term. The application process is as follows:
1. Complete and print the online questionnaire. |

| 2. Acquire an official transcript from all high schools (if freshman applicant), colleges and universities attended. |
| 3. Request a letter of recommendation from a faculty member (other than department head / chairperson) familiar with the applicant’s scholastic performance.
The letter should include an appraisal of the applicant's academic ability, leadership ability, initiative, character and integrity. |
4. Include a recent photograph of yourself.
